ISRO announces Aditya-L1's solar wind ion spectrometer operations

ISRO's Aditya-L1 satellite's ASPEX payload is functioning normally with Solar wind Ion Spectrometer (SWIS) and STEPS instruments active and demonstrating optimal performance.

The ASPEX has started measuring solar wind ions, primarily protons and alpha particles, providing a comprehensive view of solar wind behaviour.

The directional capabilities of SWIS are helping with precise measurements of solar wind protons and alphas, significantly contributing to the understanding of solar wind properties.

The International scientific community is waiting for the wealth of knowledge the ASPEX will provide about the solar wind and its implications for Earth.

Onboard Aditya-L1, the HEL1OS X-ray spectrometer, which was commissioned in October, has captured the first high-energy X-ray glimpse of solar flares.

Aditya-L1, launched in early September, executed a 16-second trajectory correction manoeuvre in October and is engaged in India's inaugural solar mission.
